And we ran … as fast as 2 pregnant ladies could anyways

I was 7 months pregnant, and needed to do some grocery shopping. I wasn’t feeling super great, but had accepted the fact that pregnancy hated me so off I went. By the time I go to the store, the yucky feelings were growing but I pressed on. As my grocery cart filled, so did my queasiness. I wasn’t feeling super sick, just “not right” and I assumed it would just pass. I keep shopping, turned down a new aisle, and it hit me. 12 seconds later, I threw up all over the floor.

I was standing there not even really sure what to do, as I’d never been in this situation before. All I knew was that I was completely mortified, very pregnant and was basically stuck to the floor. What do you do, as an adult, when you throw up everywhere? Do you leave it and just walk away? Do you call for help? Do you pull your buggy over the mess and then get help? For some reason, I couldn’t decide, do I just stood there.

All of the sudden, I heard someone giggling. And then full on laughing. I turned around to see a VERY pregnant woman standing there with tears running down her face. I considered slapping her but knew that really wasn’t an option as 2 prego’s fighting in a Sobeys probably isn’t something that people wanted to see. Her laughter made me laugh, and I felt some relief. We finally made eye contact and she commented, “that has always been my biggest fear. I actually dream about throwing up in public, so when I saw you, I lost it”. She then grabbed my hand and said, “Let’s go … grab your purse”. And we ran … as fast as 2 pregnant ladies could anyways. We beelined for the front door, she gave me hug and walked away.

I know that I did the wrong thing that day, but I’ve never been so relieved to receive kindness from someone. This stranger saved me from a horrible moment, and for that, I’ll always be grateful.
